Community Action Head Start serves Adams, Billings, Bowman, Dunn, Golden Valley, Hettinger, Slope and Stark Counties in North Dakota. Both center and home based program options operate September through May. A Head Start center is located in Dickinson provides Head Start services for 105 children in the morning or afternoon sessions Monday through Thursday. Bus transportation is provided within the Dickinson city limits. The Herringer County Head Start Center located in Regent provides full day Head Start services for 15-17 children Monday through Thursday. Bus transportation is provided between Mott and Regent. Rural busing may be arranged with the Mott Regent Public School district. Both the Dickinson and Regent centers partner with the local school districts to provide an integrative center for preschool children with disabilities.

Home base services are available throughout the eight county service area for families who prefer to have the Head Start teacher come into their homes weekly for 1 1/2 hours to share resources for parents to facilitate their child's overall development. Two Fridays each month, the parents and their Head Start enrolled child travel to a centrally located site for a 3 hour preschool socialization experience and parent selected training. Currently these home base preschool socialization sites are located in Beach, Belfield, and Dickinson.
